Can’t We All Just
Get Along?
The United Federation of Planets is composed of several races (Human,
Vulcan, Orion, Andorian, Rigelian, Alpha-Centauran, Cygnan, etc.) which hold
seats on the ruling council. The Federation is dominated by the Humans,
including those of Earth parentage who were born on other planets.
Humans provide more than 70% of Star Fleet (the military arm) personnel and
dominate every phase of its operations.
The Federation is probably the most idealistic of all the empires.
Federation ships never attack without warning, and while the Federation has
fought wars with all of its neighbors, it has never started one.
....So long as you pay for it!
Economically, however, the Federation is the most aggressive race in the
galaxy. Federation merchant ships are found almost everywhere during
Peacetime, and the "Neutral Zones" between the Federation and its neighbors
abound with Federation colonies set up within the strict letter of the
law.
This Shall be our Finest
Hour
As the General War grew in the west, from the seeds laid during the Four
Powers War, the Federation finds itself hard pressed. This time out
the Kligons are taking no chances. They have fully refitted their fleet,
and with their Lyran allies they have launched an invasion of the Federation
in addition to their historic enemies, the Hydrans and Kzinti. This
time the Coalition plans to make the Federation face war on its own territory
and thus elminate their threats of interference.
The Federation thought it was ready for war, but they were wrong. Too
many years of peace and prosperity have left them complacent and
untrained.
As their Klingon border buckles under strain, are now suprised by the sudden
Eastern assault from the Romulans. The Klingon Emperor has arranged
for this (he hopes) final nail in the coffin of Star Fleet.
Will the Klingon gambit work? Will the Federation Star Fleet fold,
leaving their smaller allies unprotected and the Coaltion Hordes thus able
to determine the shape of the galaxy? Now you will decide as you take
command of one of Star Fleets newest vessels. Good luck, soldier.
